Agartala, Aug. 10 -- The main opposition in Tripura, CPI-M on Monday held a protest across the state as part of its nationwide 'Jail Bharo' movement.

The demonstration occurred just before the upcoming elections for the village committees of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC).

They accused the ruling BJP-led government of being undemocratic and driven by a small group of power-seekers.

Several hundred supporters were detained in Agartala, with party officials claiming that similar civil disobedience activities took place at 21 other locations across the state, leading to thousands of arrests.
