Agartala, July 17 -- The Leader of the Opposition and CPI(M) State secretary Jitendra Chaudhury acknowledged that referring to the South Tripura Superintendent of Police as an "idiot" was not appropriate, following the protest by the All India Service Association.

He explained that his comment stemmed from frustration after several attempts to reach the officer went unanswered.

Chaudhury expressed his irritation at the lack of response from the Superintendent of Police while the Sub-Divisional Police Officer instructed him and other CPI(M) leaders to leave.
