Patna, July 2 -- Opposing the Bihar government's decision to levy toll tax on state highways, bypasses and major bridges, the Communist Party of India (CPI) today demanded that it be withdrawn immediately.
CPI Bihar State Secretary Ram Naresh Pandey alleged here that the state government was imposing new taxes on the public to boost its revenue. He said that after increasing the holding tax in urban areas, the government was now preparing to collect taxes from households in rural areas as well.
