Kakinada, July 13 -- A court in Kakinada on Monday sentenced 15 persons to imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on 26 others in separate drunken driving cases, police said.

Third Special Judicial Second Class Magistrate Chinta Nagendra Rao awarded jail terms ranging from one to five days to the guilty motorists.

According to traffic police, a total of 41 drunken driving cases were booked during a special enforcement drive conducted in the city on Sunday night on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Bindu Madhav to curb road accidents.
