Mumbai, Feb. 26 -- A special court on Thursday acquitted Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut in a defamation case filed against him by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya's wife Medha Somaiya.
On September 26 last year , a magistrate court had found Raut guilty of defaming Medha and had imposed a 15-day imprisonment sentence on him. However, it was suspended to unable him to file an appeal in the sessions court. Raut then filed an appeal seeking that the sentence be quashed as the order was "bad in law" and "improper on facts".
