Chennai, March 10 -- In a tragic incident, three members of a family--a couple and their two-year-old child--were killed in a fire that broke out in a house at Kannivakkam area in suburban Guduvancherry early this morning.
Police said the victims were fast asleep when the fire broke out due to a spark from a mosquito repellent coil and engulfed the house, killing them on the spot.
The deceased were identified as Parthiban (36), a construction worker from Pandur near Guduvanchery, his wife Chitra (25), and their two-year-old daughter Jayasree.
After hearing that his sister Maheswari's kid was unwell, Parthiban came to her house last night along with his wife and child.
