Bengaluru, March 10 -- Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress president DK Shivakumar on Tuesday warned that a worsening cooking gas shortage could push the country into a serious crisis, saying hotels may be forced to shut operations and food prices could surge if supplies are not restored quickly.
"Country is boiling. Hotels are planning to shut because they don't have gas. If this continues, all prices will go up," Shivakumar told reporters here, expressing concern over the impact of the shortage on businesses and households.
He said several hotels were already considering closing their kitchens due to lack of LPG supply, which could disrupt food services and severely affect the hospitality sector.
