Chennai, Aug. 15 -- A 56-year-old policeman, who part of the team performing band during the Independence Day parade, collapsed after suffering severe chest pain on Saturday.
The policeman, identified as Dharmaraj, suddenly fell unconscious while the band was performing during the ceremonial proceedings after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay hoisted the National flag at the ramparts of Fort St.George.
Fellow police personnel immediately rushed to his aid and attempted to provide first aid. As he was unconscious, he was shited to an ambulance, where a nurse immediately administered CPR as emergency treatment.
