Karimnagar, June 17 -- union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday said cooperative societies can earn up to RS 50 lakh annually by establishing 1-megawatt solar power plants under the Centre's PM-KUSUM scheme.

During his visit to Choppadandi, the Minister inspected a Jan Aushadhi Kendra and urged people to make use of affordable medicines available there.

He later visited a 1-MW solar plant set up by a cooperative society and reviewed its operations.

Addressing the media, Bandi Sanjay said the Modi government is encouraging cooperative societies to establish solar plants, with NABARD providing loans covering over 80 per cent of the project cost.
