New Delhi, July 16 -- A consumer court in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, has ordered Maruti Suzuki to replace a customer's Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid SUV after ruling that the vehicle was damaged by ethanol-blended E20 fuel.
The Raipur Consumer Court directed the automaker to take back the defective vehicle from complainant Dr. Premraj Debta and provide him with a new E20-compatible car of the same model within 45 days, according to the court order.
"If the company fail to comply with the order, it must instead refund the vehicle's full cost of Rs 18.29 lakh, along with RTO charges of Rs 1,86,850 and an insurance premium of Rs 34,644, making the total refund amount Rs 20,50,494," the order stated.
