Sydney, March 25 -- Construction of Brisbane's 63,000-seat stadium for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games will begin in June, the government of Queensland announced on Wednesday.
Jarrod Bleijie, Queensland's deputy premier, said the state government has finalized a site for the 3.8 billion Australian dollar (2.7 billion U.S. dollar) stadium in a central location in Victoria Park, 2 km north of Brisbane's central business district.
Bleijie said preparatory works would begin once the land is transferred to the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) on June 1.
