Kolkata, May 23 -- In an interesting political development that could shape the future course of Bengal politics, the Congress on Saturday openly invited former party leaders and workers to return to its fold, signalling a renewed attempt to rebuild its organisational base by capitalising on the growing unrest within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) after its electoral debacle.
"Those who were born in Congress, who grew politically within the Congress ideology, but had to leave the party because of circumstances, pressure, resentment or personal compulsions, now have a golden opportunity to return," said AICC observer for West Bengal, Ghulam Ahmed Mir.
