Panchkula, June 24 -- The arrest of IAS officer Pankaj Agrawal in the high-profile IDFC-AU Bank scam case has triggered a fresh political storm in Haryana, with the Congress alleging that the state government was aware of the officer's alleged involvement in the case but still appointed him as the Returning Officer (RO) for the Rajya Sabha elections.
Congress MLAs Ashok Arora and Aftab Ahmed accused the BJP government of shielding officials facing serious allegations and demanded a fair and transparent investigation into the scam. The Congress leaders also questioned the role of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and senior Finance Department officials in the matter.
