Pune, May 29 -- The Maharashtra unit of Congress today strongly criticised the BJP-led state government over the toxic liquor tragedy in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, calling it a "major failure of the Home Department headed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis".

At least 14 people reportedly died after consuming chemically-contaminated country liquor in Fugewadi area of Pimpri-Chinchwad and Hadapsar in Pune.

State Congress spokesperson Gopaldada Tiwari visited the families of the deceased and expressed his condolences.
