Mumbai, Aug. 17 -- With 37.8 per cent of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) forms in Mumbai City and 34.4 per cent in Mumbai Suburban yet to be collected, Congress MLA and Deputy Leader of the Congress Legislative Party Amin Patel has sought an extension of the deadline for completing the electoral roll revision exercise.
In a letter to Chief Electoral Officer S Chockalingam, Patel cited the large number of uncollected forms and pending correction requests, saying that completing the exercise within the existing timeline could result in genuine voters being left out of the electoral rolls.
The letter also alleged improper implementation of the SIR exercise by certain Booth Level Agents (BLAs) in the 186 Mumbadevi Assembly Constituency.
