Pune, April 4 -- The Congress on Saturday asserted that the decline of Naxalism in India cannot be attributed solely to the present Modi government, claiming that earlier Congress-led governments played a more significant role in curbing the insurgency.
In a statement, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress senior spokesperson Gopaldada Tiwari criticised Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks on the issue, terming them "immature, arrogant and misleading." He said the fight against Naxalism has been ongoing for decades and involved sacrifices by several Congress leaders who lost their lives in Maoist attacks.
