Varanasi, Sept. 17 -- The Varanasi City Congress Committee on Thursday observed "Unemployment Day" on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, staging a protest and distributing rattles to highlight issues including inflation, unemployment, education, fuel prices, floods and other public concerns.
Congress workers gathered at Padmashree Square and marched towards the statue of Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar in Ravindrapuri, raising slogans during the protest.
The protesters also raised the issue of Varanasi's sewer system and a sack reportedly found in a sewer. They carried a sack symbolically, garlanded it and questioned how it had ended up in the sewer and what action had been taken against those responsible.
