Thiruvananthapuram, May 6 -- Despite securing an absolute majority in the Kerala Assembly elections, the Congress high command is engaged in intense deliberations over the selection of the next Chief Minister, with no clear consensus emerging yet.

The leadership race has narrowed down to three prominent contenders - Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan, senior leader Ramesh Chennithala, and All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary K C Venugopal. All three are considered strong candidates, making the decision a challenging task for the party leadership.

Veteran Congress leader A K Antony described the contenders as "equally talented and highly qualified" to assume the top post.
