New Delhi, June 14 -- The Congress on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Narendra Modi government over the deaths of three Indian seafarers in a US military strike in Oman, accusing the Prime Minister of remaining silent on the tragedy and failing to defend India's sovereignty and national honour.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra issued separate statements on social media platform X, questioning the government's response to the deaths and alleging that New Delhi had failed to seek accountability from Washington.
