New Delhi, Aug. 11 -- The Delhi Congress on Tuesday accused the BJP government of its involvement in a purported Rs 22,000-crore rice scam, alleging that rice meant for the public distribution system was diverted for commercial gains.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav claimed that the Rekha Gupta-led government had "turned Delhi not only into the Capital of Crime, but also the Capital of Corruption."Yadav alleged that the Food Corporation of India (FCI), acting on the recommendation of the Delhi government's Food and Civil Supplies Department, diverted rice meant for public distribution to the Assam Corporation, which allegedly sold it to a private company in Haryana at a substantial profit.
