Gadchiroli, April 9 -- Senior Congress leader Nana Patole on Thursday levelled serious allegations of a large-scale irregularities in paddy procurement and rice distribution in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, and demanded a high-level probe into the matter.
The Congress leader claimed that certain rice millers, in collusion with government officials, were siphoning off paddy procured from farmers, causing significant financial losses to the state exchequer.
In a letter addressed to Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Patole urged the government to constitute a high-level inquiry and register criminal cases against those found responsible.
