Panchkula, June 12 -- The Congress on Friday alleged a nexus between forest officials and timber mafias in Haryana's Morni region, claiming that an officer who exposed illegal tree felling was suspended while those responsible for the alleged environmental damage were protected.
Senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, in a post on social media platform X, accused the state government of shielding those involved in large-scale illegal felling of khair trees in the Morni-Panchkula forest area and targeting officials who attempted to bring the matter to light.
