Shimla, March 19 -- Congress legislator from Gagret, Rakesh Kalia, on Thursday raised the issue of the recent arrest of a senior Congress leader by the Delhi Police, alleging that it was carried out on frivolous grounds.

Raising the matter during Zero Hour in the Assembly, Kalia said that Anil Dadwal, an elected pradhan and Panchayat Samiti member, was arrested over a social media post critical of BJP leaders. He argued that everyone has the right to freedom of speech and questioned the grounds for the arrest.

Kalia further alleged that Dadwal had initially been summoned under a bailable section, but was later sent to jail after the charges were altered to more serious, non-bailable sections. He claimed that BJP workers also made similar ...
