Bengaluru, Aug. 3 -- The Karnataka Congress faced the spectre of a major rebellion on Monday after 12 like-minded Congress legislators reportedly decided to resign from the Assembly over their exclusion from the expanded state Cabinet, with senior MLA Belur Gopalakrishna alleging that the party had rewarded political dynasties while ignoring loyal grassroots leaders.
Announcing his decision to quit the Assembly, Gopalakrishna claimed the group of 12 MLAs, all disappointed over being denied ministerial berths, would jointly submit their resignations on Tuesday after consultations.
