Dimapur, Sept. 8 -- Chumoukedima DC Polan John on Tuesday directed all stakeholders, particularly identified bulk waste generators (BWGs), to ensure compliance with the Supreme Court's time-bound directions and the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
Speaking at a workshop on bulk waste generators at Chumoukedima DC's office, John urged all to take collective responsibility for effective solid waste management.
He cautioned that non-compliance could attract penalties under the "Polluter Pays" principle and other enforcement provisions.
He also said appropriate action, including disconnection of electricity and water supply, may be taken against persistent non-compliant establishments as per the directions and applicable provisions.
