Bhubaneswar, May 21 -- The opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today launched a blistering attack on the BJP government in Odisha, alleging fast deterioration of law and order stating that "the criminals were operating with political patronage while the police force had "lost morale".

Addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar, senior BJD leaders alleged that incidents of murder, attacks on police personnel, intimidation of officials and threats to journalists had created an atmosphere of fear and anarchy across the state.

Bhrugu Buxipatra, along with Chinmay Sahoo and BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty, alleged that the recent broad daylight assault on Giri Road in Berhampur had exposed the "complete collapse" of policing in the state.
