Kolkata, July 30 -- Nearly two years after her daughter's alleged rape, murder and acid burning, a woman turned to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari for justice at his weekly Janatar Darbar.

The woman, from Nadia's Krishnanagar, alleged that her daughter was raped, murdered and her body burnt with acid on October 16, 2024.

She claimed that the police initially treated the case as a murder but later described it as a suicide.

She alleged that despite repeated attempts, the family was not allowed to register a complaint of rape and murder.

An FIR was eventually lodged with the help of a lawyer, but the investigation failed to make any meaningful progress, she claimed.
