Bengaluru, July 19 -- Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday issued a public appeal for restraint ahead of the FIFA World Cup final, urging football fans to celebrate responsibly as the state government extended operating hours for hotels and restaurants in Bengaluru till 3:30 am to facilitate live screenings of the global showpiece.
The appeal comes amid heightened anticipation for the final, with large crowds expected to gather across the city during the early hours of Monday.
Addressing reporters at Vidhana Soudha, Shivakumar said the relaxation had been granted in response to requests from young football enthusiasts but cautioned that celebrations should not spill over into law and order issues.
