Motihari, Aug. 27 -- Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday visited the Valmikinagar Barrage and reviewed the water discharge and flow in the Gandak river in view of the impact of the devastating flash floods in Nepal.

Following the Chief Minister''s review, the East Champaran district administration intensified vigil in areas linked to the Gandak river and directed officials to remain on high alert in view of the evolving situation.

Choudhary personally took stock of the quantity of water being released from the Valmikinagar Barrage and the flow of the Gandak.

The administration has been instructed to maintain close watch over the situation in border areas and other regions connected with the river.
