Panchkula, July 25 -- Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday congratulated para powerlifter Jhandu Kumar for winning India's first medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026, describing the achievement as a proud moment for the nation.
In a post on X, Saini lauded Jhandu Kumar for securing the bronze medal in the men's heavyweight para powerlifting event by lifting 190 kg, giving India its opening medal of the Games.
"The country's campaign at the Commonwealth Games has begun in a splendid manner with a bronze medal," the Chief Minister said.
