Shimla, June 8 -- Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday inaugurated Himachal Pradesh's first government-run women's de-addiction and rehabilitation centre, 'Nav Jeevan', at Mashobra near Shimla, describing drug abuse as a major social and humanitarian challenge requiring both compassion for victims and strict action against traffickers.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister said the growing menace of drug abuse, particularly the use of chitta (heroin), could not be viewed merely as a law-and-order issue.
