Pune, March 14 -- : Emphasising the urgent need for sustainable resource management, Dr. Balakrishna Pasupathy, Central Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), stated that adopting a circular economy model has become essential for the future as natural resources are limited and are being rapidly depleted due to excessive "use-and-dispose" consumption patterns.

Pasupathy was delivering the keynote address online at a two-day conference on the circular economy organised by Rotary District 3131 in Pune.

The conference is being held on March 14 and 15, at the Dnyaneshwar Auditorium of MIT World Peace University.
