Kolkata, June 18 -- The CID's probe into the West Bengal MLAs' signature forgery case reached Trinamool Congress MP and lawyer Kalyan Banerjee today.

An official of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) called up Banerjee during the day asking him to appear for questioning.

Expressing his displeasure, the veteran lawyer and MP subsequently wrote a letter to the Bar Council. In the letter, Banerjee questioned the grounds and manner of the intended interrogation.

Banerjee alleged that he was summoned for questioning precisely because he had appeared in court as a lawyer representing the petitioner, TMC MLA Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay in a case filed against the Speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. The petition filed by Chatto...
