Kochi, Aug. 19 -- Cargo movement through Cochin International Airport (CIAL) has surged ahead of Onam, with 1,678 metric tonnes (MT) of cargo, including 1,173 MT of perishables, expected to be handled through scheduled flight services between August 17 and 23.
The increase is being driven by strong seasonal demand for fresh produce and other commodities linked to the Onam market, with perishables accounting for the bulk of the cargo movement.
The consignments include banana, small onion, beans, tur, drumstick, tindly, fruits, papaya, snake gourd, green mango and banana leaves, among other commodities.
