Kendrapara (Odisha), March 21 -- In a significant crackdown on child marriage, police in Odisha's Kendrapara district arrested a mother and her relative for allegedly promoting a minor's marriage and assaulting officials who attempted to intervene.
According to police, a complaint was received through the child helpline regarding a child marriage being conducted on March 5 at Sakhibata village.
Acting swiftly on the information, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Bijay Ketan Sahu deputed a four-member team to the location. The team was led by Child Helpline Coordinator Sain Parida and included Sakhi Centre administrator Rojalin Behura.
