Kolkata, Aug. 22 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday said about 1.45 crore women were now receiving Rs 3,000 a month under the Annapurna Bhandar scheme and promised to extend the benefit to all eligible beneficiaries left out of the programme.
Addressing an Annapurna Bhandar programme at Subhas Udyan (Northern Park) in Bhowanipore, Adhikari said the number of beneficiaries had risen from about 28 lakh in June to 1.19 crore in July and 1.45 crore in August.
"Those who are financially weak will be given priority," Adhikari said, adding that women who were genuinely eligible but had not yet been included would also be covered.
