Chennai, Aug. 1 -- The Chennai Port Authority registered multiple milestones in bulk cargo handling on July 30, 2026, marking an increase in its cargo handling operations.

The port handled 46,000 Metric Tonnes of Barytes exports in a single day through the vessel M.V. Nafisa Jahan at Jawahar Dock-II, surpassing the previous record of 45,200 Metric Tonnes handled through M.V. Ghousta at Jawahar Dock-IV on May 31, 2022.

Additionally, the port handled 13,208 Metric Tonnes of Pig Iron, a new cargo commodity, via M.V. Agia Charis at Jawahar Dock-IV.

The shipment availed the benefits under the Non-Containerised Cargo Concession Scheme 2026-27, an initiative by the Chennai Port Authority offering up to 80% wharfage concessions alongside loyalty...
