Kolkata, June 19 -- Calcutta High Court Chief Justice Sujoy Paul retired on Friday, following which Justice Tapobrata Chakraborty was appointed as the acting Chief justice.
Justice Chakraborty would assume charge on Saturday.
Justice Paul was given a farewell by the Calcutta High Court Bar Association .
Justice Paul Joined as a Judge of CHC after stints as judge in the Madhya Pradesh and Telangana high courts. He was apponted the acting Chief Justice in September last year. In January this year he was appointed as the 44th Chief Justice of CHC. UNI XC SSPPresident of India Droupadi Murmu appointed Justice Chakraborty to the crucial post would assume charge as t he next most senior justice of High court.
