Varanasi, March 26 -- Varanasi Commissionerate Police have filed a charge sheet against alleged kingpin Shubham Jaiswal in a massive Rs 2,000 crore cough syrup smuggling case.
Following this development, the process to extradite Jaiswal-who is reportedly hiding in Dubai-has gained momentum, officials disclosed on Thursday.
The case came to light after large consignments of illegal cough syrup were seized in Sonbhadra and Ghaziabad, with investigation linking the smuggling network back to Varanasi.
On November 18, Rohania police recovered around 500 cartons of cough syrup from the basement of a gym in Bhadwar.
