Kolkata, July 4 -- Internal turbulence within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) showed no signs of easing after Chandrima Bhattacharya resigned from the post of the party's state president, adding another layer of uncertainty to the organisation amid an ongoing split within the party.
The crisis in TMC intensified after the change in power in the state, when the party dissolved all its organisational units.
Subsequently, a large group of MPs joined NCPI, while several MLAs formed a separate bloc.
Following a meeting at Kalighat, the party announced a major organisational overhaul and appointed Chandrima Bhattacharya as state president after Subrata Bakshi stepped down due to health reasons.
