Chandigarh, July 28 -- Tenants in Chandigarh are set to benefit from a new digital system that promises quicker registration of rental agreements, easier access to tenancy-related services and faster resolution of disputes. Ahead of its public launch, Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav reviewed the online Tenancy Portal being developed under the Chandigarh Tenancy Rules, 2026.
The portal will allow tenants to register tenancy agreements online through the Government of India's ServicePlus platform, eliminating the need for repeated visits to government offices. Once an application is verified, a Unique Identification Number (UIN) will be issued within seven days, providing tenants with an official record of their tenancy.
