Bristol, June 23 -- Captain Chamari Athapaththu delivered a Player of the Match performance with a scintillating unbeaten century as Sri Lanka Women crushed Ireland Women by nine wickets in their ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Group B clash at the County Ground here on Tuesday.
Athapaththu starred with both bat and ball, claiming one wicket before hammering an unbeaten 106 off just 61 deliveries, laced with 17 boundaries and two sixes, to lead Sri Lanka to a commanding victory with 27 balls to spare.
Earlier, Sri Lanka's bowlers produced a disciplined effort after skipper Athapaththu elected to field. Ireland were restricted to 130 for five in their 20 overs despite a fighting 59 from captain Gaby Lewis.
