Siliguri, Aug. 22 -- The Centre is set to constitute a committee under the leadership of interlocutor and retired IPS officer Pankaj Kumar Singh to examine the long-standing demand of the Gorkha community and work out a possible "permanent solution" to the Gorkhaland issue, sources said following a high-level meeting on hill affairs chaired by union Home Minister Amit Shah in Siliguri on Saturday.

The meeting, described as a tripartite meeting, was attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Rajya Sabha member Harshvardhan Shringla, Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, other MLAs, government officials and representatives of various political parties and organisations associated with the BJP.
