Mumbai, Aug. 3 -- In a major relief measure for flood-affected regions of Maharashtra, the Central Government has sanctioned an advance assistance of Rs 500 crore under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

The financial aid was announced by union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to strengthen relief and rehabilitation efforts in the flood-hit districts across the state.

Welcoming the decision, Shiv Sena State spokesperson Arun Sawant thanked the Central Government and Amit Shah for extending timely financial support.

He said the advance allocation would provide much-needed relief to affected citizens and help the state administration accelerate rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations.
