Panchkula, July 23 -- The central government has made it clear that there is no proposal to extend the additional benefits available under the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) to other pension schemes or sectors, even as an employees' federation has raised concerns over delays in implementing the scheme for retired employees in some union territories.
Replying to an unstarred question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that 25,756 retired Central Government employees are eligible to receive additional benefits under the UPS.
He informed the House that, as of July 20, 2026, the UPS web portal had received 9,823 claims, all of which have been processed and paid.
