Panchkula, Aug. 25 -- The Centre is working towards a full ban on Carbosulfan, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has issued a draft order proposing a ban on the import, manufacture, sale, movement, sharing, and use of the insecticide across India due to concerns about harm to people, animals, and the environment.
The ban is not yet active and will start only after the draft is finalised and the final order is officially published.
The notification was published in the Gazette of India on August 24. According to the notification, the Agriculture Ministry had constituted an Expert Committee on January 14, 2026, to examine the continued use or otherwise of Carbosulfan registered in India.
