Panchkula, Aug. 11 -- Effective April 1, 2027, all tippers and dumpers on Indian roads must be equipped with a system that fully covers their load body, as mandated by an amendment to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has notified the Central Motor Vehicles (Twelfth Amendment) Rules, 2026, which require all dumpers and tippers to have fully enclosed load bodies while operating on roads.

According to the updated Rule 138B, the cover can be opened or closed by electric, electromechanical, hydraulic, or mechanical means. Any appropriate material may be used, but the load must be fully covered while the vehicle is in motion.
