Solapur, May 4 -- : The centre has granted partial first-phase approval for the proposed Mohol to Tandulwadi (Hyderabad-Solapur Highway) outer bypass project, which is expected to play a significant role in reducing traffic congestion in Solapur city, an official said on Monday.

Under this approval, a fund of approximately Rs 740 crore has been sanctioned for the 81-kilometre stretch between Mohol and Valsang. The proposal for the entire 107-kilometre bypass had earlier been submitted to the Central Government by the National Highways Department.

The proposed highway will pass through three Assembly constituencies - Mohol, South Solapur, and Akkalkot. Sources indicated that approval for the remaining stretch is likely to be granted in the...
