Pankaj JainNew Delhi, April 7 -- The Centre on Tuesday announced the regularisation of 1,511 unauthorised colonies in Delhi on an "as-is, where-is" basis, terming it a historic move that will benefit around 45 lakh residents.
Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the decision builds on the PM-UDAY scheme launched in 2019 to confer ownership rights and will now enable residents to undertake construction and redevelopment as per Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) norms.
He said the move is expected to encourage more residents to register their properties and is part of a broader push for planned and inclusive urban development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
