Mumbai, March 13 -- The Central Railway has announced a major plan to operate special train services during the summer holiday season in view of the expected surge in passenger traffic.
Railway officials said the decision has been taken to make travel planning easier for passengers and reduce pressure on regular train services.
Every year during the summer season, a large number of people travel to their hometowns, leading to heavy congestion on regular trains. To address the situation, the railway administration has decided to increase the frequency of some existing trains and introduce several new special trains.
